For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude:
One tropical depression formed in the eastern North Pacific basin in
June. Based on a 30-year average (1981-2010), two named storms
typically form in the basin in June, with one of those storms
reaching hurricane strength.
Without the formation of a named storm so far this year, the eastern
North Pacific season is off to a record late start. The last season
on record to not have a named storm by the end of June was 1969.
