For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude:
Two tropical storms, Andres and Blanca, formed in the basin in May.
This is a little ahead of the long-term average of one named storm
forming in the basin about every other year in May. On average,
the second named storm forms by late June. Andres was short-lived
and remained well out to sea away from any significant land masses.
Blanca was on a heading away from Mexico, but was still a tropical
cyclone when the month ended.
