987 ABPZ30 KNHC 011539 TWSEP Monthly Tropical Weather Summary NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 AM PDT Thu Jul 1 2021 For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude: Three tropical cyclones formed in the month of June in the eastern Pacific basin, Tropical Storms Carlos and Dolores, and Hurricane Enrique. Carlos did not affect any land areas, but Dolores made landfall along the southwestern coast of Mexico around the middle of the month. Although the center of Hurricane Enrique remained just offshore of the coast of Mexico, it also brought impacts to portions of southwestern Mexico. The formation of three tropical cyclones in June is a little above the long-term average of about two named storms forming in the basin in June, with one storm becoming a hurricane. The number of named storms (5) in the basin so far in 2021 is running ahead of the long-term average (2.5) through June; however, the Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes, so far this season is close to average.
