Monthly Tropical Weather Summary
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
800 AM PDT Thu Jul 1 2021
For the eastern North Pacific, east of 140 degrees west longitude:
Three tropical cyclones formed in the month of June in the eastern
Pacific basin, Tropical Storms Carlos and Dolores, and Hurricane
Enrique. Carlos did not affect any land areas, but Dolores made
landfall along the southwestern coast of Mexico around the middle
of the month. Although the center of Hurricane Enrique remained
just offshore of the coast of Mexico, it also brought impacts to
portions of southwestern Mexico.
The formation of three tropical cyclones in June is a little above
the long-term average of about two named storms forming in the
basin in June, with one storm becoming a hurricane. The number of
named storms (5) in the basin so far in 2021 is running ahead of
the long-term average (2.5) through June; however, the Accumulated
Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the strength and duration of
tropical storms and hurricanes, so far this season is close to
average.
Reports on individual cyclones, when completed, are available at
the National Hurricane Center website at:
