000 ABNT30 KNHC 011133 TWSAT Monthly Tropical Weather Summary NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 AM EDT Sun Jul 1 2018 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season had an early start with the formation of Subtropical Storm Alberto in May. No tropical cyclones formed in the basin in June. Based on a 30-year climatology (1981-2010), about one named storm forms in the basin by the end of June about every other year. In terms of Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), which measures the combined strength and duration of tropical storms and hurricanes, activity in the Atlantic basin so far in 2018 is near normal.
